In June 2025, a Federal High Court in Warri issued a production order compelling the Nigerian Army to present the Okuama detainees in court. The military has defied this order across six consecutive court sessions. Lead counsel Dr. Jonathan Ekperusi continues to press for compliance. The next hearing is May 19, 2026.

What Happened

A Community Erased

After the March 2024 incident, the Nigerian Army razed Okuama community in Delta State. Residents have lived in makeshift shelters for over two years. A government built secondary school stands empty, no desks, no students. A child died in a storm because there was no medical care nearby.
